Information For Parents

In accordance with COPPA (the Child Online Protection and Privacy Act), we ask that all children under 13 get permission from a parent or guardian before registering for our site. Unfortunately, there is very little we can do to check whether they did because there's no accurate way for us to determine the age of someone using the site.

We do however try to provide a mechanism for you to monitor your child's use of our site.

What Information Do We Require From Your Children?

To register for this site, all your children must provide is a valid e-mail address and a chosen user name. No other information is required. While their user name is shown with their public drawings, their e-mail address is never divulged and never used to send them advertisements from third parties.

What Other Information Might Be Publicly Available?

The other information that might be publicly available may be in your child's bio (the bio is blank at the time of registration and putting information in it is voluntary) or anything they include in one of their drawings. For more information on accessing your child's bio and catalog of drawings, please see the end of the next section.

Personally identifiable information that may appear in their bio is their real name and a link to their personal web site (or MySpace page).

How Can You Monitor Your Child's Use Of The Site?

We thought long and hard about how to protect children while protecting our adult users against fraudulent monitoring. In the end we came up with this... If your child is under 13, you should have access to their e-mail accounts. Therefore, if your child has registered and you have access to their e-mail account, you can merely use the lost password form. Enter the e-mail address your child registered with and we will send their user name and password to that address. If you have access to that mailbox, you will then be able to gain access to your child's account.

We understand that this may be a bit more complex than you wish, but there is no way for us to definitively prove that you are a member's parent or guardian, particularly if you are just e-mailing or faxing us a statement that you are. The safest and clearest way to prove that is by you having access to the e-mail account they used to sign up with our site.

Once you have obtained your child's login information, you may login with their account. To view the drawings they have made, you may then click over to their drawings (both public and private). To view or edit the information in their public bio, you may visit their bio management page and review or alter the information provided there.
